Industrial automation laboratory

Overview

The Industrial Automation Laboratory is a laboratory of the TalTech Institute of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, which allows solving technical tasks related to automation based on the needs of industry as well as within the framework of studies. The laboratory's facilities are used to carry out research projects, business collaborations, and student development projects.

Equipment and capabilities

The laboratory has the following equipment:

SMC training bench with Siemens S7-1500 series industrial controller (PLC) and Siemens KTP-700 series user interface (HMI) – testing the integration of various sensors, advanced training, teaching

PLC Siemens S7-1200 series industrial controllers – solving various automation tasks, advanced training, teaching

• Machine vision camera Cognex (In-Sight 7905C series) – testing machine vision solutions, advanced training, teaching

• Machine vision system with 4 Basler cameras (a2A2448-23gmBAS series), PC with Pylon software – testing machine vision solutions, advanced training, teaching

Collaboration and projects

The Industrial Automation Laboratory cooperates with various industrial companies, supports TalTech research projects and helps students implement engineering development ideas. The laboratory's previous projects are related to testing machine vision solutions, PLC programming and teaching.
