Materials research laboratory
Overview
The Materials Research Laboratory is part of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, focusing on the study of the structure and composition of various materials. We mainly serve the research projects of the Institute, but also other departments of the university and companies.
Equipment and facilities
The laboratory has the following equipment:
• Rigaku Smartlab SE – X-ray diffractometer (XRD)
• Zeiss EVO MA15 – scanning electron microscope (SEM) with microanalyzer (EDS)
• Bruker Alpha II – infrared spectrometer (ATR-FTIR)
• Optical microscopes
Analyses performed:
• Macro- and microstructure of substances
• Phase composition of substances and materials
• Elemental composition of substances at the macro- and micro-levels
• Identification of chemical compounds
Main areas of activity
- Support for research projects within the institute and the university
- Expertise (mostly in cooperation with the Mechanics and Metrology Testing Laboratory)
