The 'card shuffler' of this year's Rector's Cup competition series is the step-collecting challenge taking place from May 1st to 10th. This means that each faculty has a real opportunity to gather themselves for one stage and bring themselves back into contention for the overall victory of the Rector's Cup

The "Card Shuffler"
The winner of the combined score in the Rector's Cup step-collecting challenge (best woman + best man) multiplies the faculty's activity points from the step challenge by two. This means that with high activity and good results, each faculty has the opportunity to 'shuffle the cards' in the overall standings of the Rector's Cup – hence the name 'card shuffler'.
Example: 1000 people from the School of Engineering participate in the step challenge, achieving 1st place for women and 3rd place for men. Adding up their Rector's Cup points (240+160), we get a combined score of 400 points. If this 400 points is the highest from all other faculties, then the 1000 participants from the Faculty of Engineering are multiplied by two, and the competition points are added. The Faculty of Engineering earns 1 point per participant in the Rector's Cup activity point system, meaning they would earn 2400 points in total.
There is NO LIMIT to the number of participants in the Rector's Cup step-collecting challenge!
Evening walks with the Rectorate
Between May 1st and May 10th, everyone interested is welcome to join our evening walks with the Rectorate members. During the walks on the university campus, in addition to collecting steps, you can also participate in interesting popular science discussions led by our very own members of the Rectorate. The discussions are popular science oriented because the topics should be understandable, for example, for school-aged children as well.
Currently, three people have confirmed their walks:
- May 6th at 16:30 - Professor Helen Sooväli-Sepping, discussing "The Waltz of Mustamäe — Ideas, Needs, Wishes on the Path to a Green Campus."
- May 7th (exact time to be confirmed) - Rector Professor Tiit Land, who will talk to us about the most complex part of the human body, the brain.
Bring along your colleagues, classmates, friends, children, parents, and grandparents, and let's move towards a more active and broadened horizon through engaging conversations and walks. All walks start from the lobby of the university main building.
Signing up guide
1. The Rector's Cup step-collecting challenge takes place through the globally acclaimed YuMuuv app, which you can download to your smartphone by visiting the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and typing in "Yumuuv". Additionally, you can scan this QR code with your phone, which will also direct you to the right place:

2. After downloading the app, you will need to either log in with an existing account or create a new one. Creating a new account is very simple:

a) Point 1 allows you to choose the language that suits you the best;
b) By clicking on the 'Sign up' button (point No. 2), you can create a new account;
c) When creating an account, you have a couple of different options - either enter your own email and choose a password (next to the star, enter the code "REKTORI-KARIKAS"), or select Google/Apple login from below. The app will also ask you for an enrollment code, which is "REKTORI-KARIKAS".
3. After creating the account, you need to enter your first name, last name, and also select your faculty (team) from the dropdown menu.

4. Next, you need to make a choice about which device you would like to create integration with.

Recommendations:
a) If you want your phone to continuously track your steps, the easiest option would be to simply integrate with either Apple Health (Apple) or Google Fit (Android).
b) If you already have smartwatches (Garmin, Polar, Fitbit), then choose the one that suits you, and the app will guide you further.
PS! After this step, your phone will ask for access (if you haven't done so before) to various smartphone applications. Simply press YES to everything.
If you didn't find a suitable option for yourself, then read the guide created by YuMuuv HERE. This guide discusses all the details about potential issues, so scroll down a bit to find integration questions.
5. And lastly, make sure to double-check that you have joined the 'TalTech Rector's Cup step challenge (TalTechi Rektori karika sammuväljakutse)'

PS! Sometimes you may need to manually click the green JOIN button, if everything is already set up, you will only see three gray-white dots there (like in the picture)
Congratulations, you are now registered for the Rector's Cup step-collecting challenge! The Yumuuv app will automatically start tracking your steps from May 1st at 00:01 and will stop counting steps automatically on May 10th at 23:59. Within the app, you can track the ongoing results of other participants (the app updates itself every 10 minutes), to motivate yourself to take extra steps.
