Tallinn University of Technology and Meridein Grupp OÜ signed a cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening collaboration between science and industry in the fields of drone technology and robotics.
“Drone technology is rapidly emerging as one of the most strategically important fields of technology, and remaining at the forefront of this sector is critically important. We are pleased that through cooperation with Meridein Grupp, we can combine TalTech’s research and development capabilities with the company’s practical experience and bring this knowledge directly to our students and researchers. Such collaboration helps strengthen Estonia’s expertise in drone technology and supports the development of the next generation of engineers and technology specialists,” said Alar Niidas, Business Development Specialist at the Institute of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.
The cooperation focuses on advancing research and development activities and applying science-based solutions in business. In the field of education, students will be offered internship opportunities, company-driven thesis topics will be developed, and guest lectures and collaborative projects will be organised. In addition, TalTech and Meridein Grupp aim to support entrepreneurship and the development of start-ups through cooperation between researchers, students, and companies.
“The signed cooperation agreement brings together academic expertise and industrial experience to accelerate innovation and develop practical next-generation technologies in Estonia and the Baltics,” said Eduard Vainu, Chief Operating Officer of Meridein Grupp OÜ.
During the signing ceremony, Meridein Grupp presented TalTech’s rector Tiit Land with one of the company’s first drone prototypes, symbolising the company’s development and the partners’ shared commitment to advancing technology.

This activity is related to Activity 4 of the European Union co-funded ASTRA+ project “Increasing TalTech’s Knowledge Transfer Capacity” (project number: 2021–2027.1.01.24-0811).
