Aim of the course:

Development and improvement of one’s English language skills to enhance one’s performance in the workplace, especially in an international environment

Target group:

anyone who wishes to develop his/her English skills necessary in the daily work environment at level B1(+), particularly office staff, secretaries, personal assistants

Prerequisites:

English language level B1

Topics:

The course deals with several work-related topics through discussions, pair- and groupwork, role-plays and vocabulary tasks. The choice of topics is varied, depending on the needs and wishes of the participants. Sample topics include one’s role in the organization, job responsibilities, work ethics and office etiquette, peculiarities of polite/formal language, emailing, cultural differences and their impact on the work environment, communication problems and solutions, etc.

Study results:

Upon completion of the course, the learner:
- feels more confident communicating in English (in their workplace);
- uses correct work-related language;
- knows how to communicate with people from different cultural backgrounds, how to notice and solve communication problems;
- writes clear and reader-friendly emails, official invitations, and meeting minutes.

Assessment criteria:
