On April 29 Alex Topaj will held the Venia Legendi lecture on "Simulation modeling and operative planning in studies of marine transportation systems" for the Tenured Professor of Marine Technology position.
The aim of the professorship is to provide leadership in the field of education, research and development. It also aims to lead internationally visible research and development in the field of integrated marine systems and autonomous and unmanned marine technologies, and to achieve international visibility in this field.
Alex Topaj received a Master's degree in Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic Institute. Later he worked in the Agrophysical Research Institute. During that time he defended his Ph.D. thesis in 1995 and Dr.Sci. thesis in 2010. In several recent years, he have been working in academic institutions and also co-found the private company “Bureau Hyperborea”. There he led several successful large projects in the field of simulation in ocean engineering, maritime logistics and Arctic shipping and applied studies in shipbuilding design.
