Tallinn University of Technology

Digital Transformation in Business” masters’ students present a public lecture on May 13, 2022 at 12:00–1:30 P.M. by the Executive Director of the EU Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) Mr Juhan Lepassaar. "Cybersecurity as the cornerstone of a secure economy and society".

Küberjulgeolek on ühiskondlikes protsessides üha enam esikohal ning see on saanud prioriteediks poliitilistes, tehnilistes, majanduslikes, ühiskondlikes ning isegi õigus- ja keskkonnaalastes aruteludes.

Cybersecurity is increasingly taking the front seat, from being considered as an afterthought to becoming a priority in policy, technical, economic, societal and even legal and environmental discussions. Given the increasing hyper-connectivity of everything and our growing online presence, the significance of cybersecurity cannot be overstated.

We are constantly coming across new cyber threats and attacks, novel avenues are opening for adversaries, emerging technologies are changing the paradigm and cyber affairs are more and more linked to physical ones, leading to the notion of hybrid threats.

At the same time, from a business perspective it is sometimes difficult to assess the impact and benefits of cybersecurity. In today’s world, how can our collective efforts in cybersecurity best protect us? Should businesses adapt their digital transformation strategies to put cybersecurity at the forefront and if so how?

How can we plan for the future to ensure resilience and preparedness? Is cybersecurity a burden or an opportunity for businesses and how can we quantify the impact and benefits of our cybersecurity strategies?
