Hhigh-level webinar introducing EC-MaRe – the European Centre for Maritime Retrofit, a €30 million Horizon Europe Teaming proposal currently in the final evaluation stage.

EC-MaRe

The initiative is led by TalTech – Estonian Maritime Academy and brings together leading Nordic–Baltic partners from Estonia, Finland and Norway to establish a Centre of Excellence focused on:

  • clean and alternative maritime energy
  • large-scale ship retrofit and fleet modernisation
  • safe and resilient maritime technologies

  • maritime law and policy support
Why this matters

EC-MaRe is designed as a long-term strategic capability for the Nordic–Baltic region, fully aligned with the European Green Deal, Fit for 55, FuelEU Maritime and EU industrial and cybersecurity strategies.

Its ambition is to accelerate the practical implementation of maritime decarbonisation, digitalisation and resilience measures — in close cooperation with industry, policymakers and public authorities.
