A pencil in the hand of an artist or an architect is like a bridge between imagination and reality. It makes the idea visible. Juhani Pallasmaa

From 15 October to 30 November, the TalTech Library Glass Gallery hosts an exhibition of drawings created at the intersection of architecture and visual arts, featuring large-format charcoal works and smaller paper compositions.

The exhibition presents a variety of drawing experiments from studies exploring the interaction of space and light to works depicting abstract structures and futuristic environments. The dramatic titles of the young architects’ charcoal drawings – Staircase, Secret, Corridor, Asteroid, Breaking Point, Plastic, Smoke, Water – speak for themselves.

The display cases in the Glass Gallery include a selection of first-year students’ sketches and drawings that document architectural objects, analyse the dialogue between light and space, and collect impressions from dreams, films, and travels, revealing new ways of seeing and thinking.

The large-scale charcoal drawings were created as part of the second-year drawing studio, while the smaller works, sketches, and collages come from the first-year archive.

Participating students: Mari Liis Aader, Marleen Kose, Kristin-Kairit Sonn, Marta Tõnisalu, Rebecca Esop, Noa Smolin, Mona Laanaru, Andreas Jurjev, Elis Treial, Karl Toomas Radik, Birgit Russka, Eike Teder, Heddy Estam, Lenne Gretel Leitmaa, Rasmus Soonvald, Rimo Bachmann, Daniel Lambing, Jan Aron Dorbek, Anastassija Fjodorova, Kristiin Jõeleht, Stella Maarja Kombo, Elina Puškina, Kristjan Kivistik, Anneli Klaas, Matthias Veski, Alice Philips, Triinu Sooden-Pitsi.
