During the free software evening, we will briefly introduce what free software is, why it is used, and what its main advantages are. After the introduction, all participants will have the opportunity to install free software on their own computer.
The installation can be done in two ways: either as a virtual machine inside the existing operating system or directly on the computer’s hardware. If you wish to install the software directly on your computer, we recommend making a backup of important data before the event.
If a participant does not have their own computer with them, it is also possible to try installing free software on the university’s lab computers using a virtual machine.
In addition, we will introduce open-source computer games and demonstrate several interesting and practical applications.
There is no age limit for participation — free software is available for users of all ages. Administrator rights on the computer are required to install the software.
