Tallinn University of Technology

From 2 May to 30 June, the Finnish Institute’s travelling exhibition “Marimekko – Finnish design classic” is up in the library’s entrance area.

Marimekko is an internationally famous Finnish textiles company that was founded in 1951 by Armi Ratia, one of the first female directors in Finland. She was a learned textile artist who gathered creative and unprejudiced designers around her.

The exhibition introduces the diverse production of the well-known Finnish clothing and textile brand and gives an overview of the company’s colourful history. Included are different periods of Marimekko’s 60-year history, from the creation of the company and gaining international success to creating a modern new era.

Marimekko textiles exhibition is accompanied by an exhibition of design books, „Language of visual intelligence“, open 2-31 May.
