On May 6, the Nurkse Reading Seminar will highlight the topic of academic publishing and the changing role of publishing in academic careers.
The discussion will centre on a paper by Aileen Fyfe and colleagues titled “Untangling Academic Publishing: A History of the Relationship between Commercial Interests, Academic Prestige and the Circulation of Research”. The paper is a result of a research project on the world’s oldest scientific journal, the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London, and takes a historical perspective on academic publishing and its transformation since the 19th century.
The seminar will be joined by professor Aileen Fyfe who will introduce and discuss her research. The discussion will open with a commentary by professor Tiina Randma-Liiv.
The Reading Seminar will take place via MS Teams on Thursday, 6 May at 16.00–17.30.
If you are interested in participating, please send an email to mariliis.trei@taltech.ee.
The seminar will be in English.
