Computer scientist and University of Delaware Associate Professor Sunita Chandrasekaran, who is speaking at the Tallinn Digital Summit, will also give a public lecture at TalTech, open to everyone. She will explore how artificial intelligence and computing create new opportunities across disciplines, connecting science and the arts.

Sunita Chandrasekaran is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at the University of Delaware and Director of the First State AI Institute.
A computer scientist by training, she leads a team focusing on compiler implementations and programming models for heterogeneous systems—the software foundations that enable scientific applications to harness modern accelerated hardware. Beyond core systems research, her team applies computing to advance discovery across disciplines, from plasma, bio, nuclear and solar physics to the arts and sports.
She has served on the US Department of Energy’s Advanced Scientific Computing Advisory Committee (ASCAC), which provides independent advice and guidance on complex scientific, technical and priority issues to advance scientific computing research.
She also serves as Vice Chair of the Delaware AI Commission, which develops statewide processes, principles and guidelines to help state agencies use AI safely and responsibly.
