Tallinn University of Technology

The focus of the school will be on the application of novel data science methods in industrial and innovation policy.

TalTech is collaborating with Nesta, the UK’s innovation agency, to deliver a summer school in 2023 during the week commencing on August 28th.

This event is organized as part of the TalTech Industrial project, and will be led by Marek Tiits and Tarmo Kalvet, project leads, alongside partners from Nesta, including data scientists George RichardsonIndia Kerle, and David Ampudia.

Throughout the week, a variety of methods and topics will be covered, including:

  • Gaining familiarity with Large Language Models, including hands-on experience with GPT.
  • Learning the fundamentals of time series forecasting and its relevance to innovation policy.
  • Understanding text analysis and Natural Language Processing.

The event will follow a hack week model, combining tutorials, seminars, and hands-on project work over the course of one week. It aims to assist participants in:

  • Enhancing their coding skills and proficiency with data science tools.
  • Effectively utilizing novel data.
  • Addressing new research questions.
  • Expanding their professional network.
