This year, 1,939 bright people are graduating from Tallinn University of Technology. Cheering you on and sending wind beneath your wings are the Rector, Deans, Directors, alumni, the entire University community – and surely at least half of Estonia!

See You again!
Congratulations! You are completing your current studies at a time full of opportunities. Yes, it’s true that in light of everything happening in the world, we need determination now more than ever. But just as much, we need proactive individuals equipped with fresh knowledge – we need you!
Keep up your energy and enthusiasm! Ask questions, seek answers.! Doubt when visible solutions seem too simple! Add arguments when you feel it's within your power! Found, develop! Be inspired and inspiring! Play mind games with new solutions!
And of course, continue studying! It's no secret that master’s studies follow the bachelor’s degree. Admittedly, that may seem demanding, especially after reaching your current finish line. But believe me: your value and worth in the labor market will rise significantly with further education. The world will open up, your circle of like-minded people will expand. And naturally, your self-esteem will gain a fresh boost.
To our new master’s graduates, I urge you to consider the opportunities offered by doctoral studies. I must admit I have some personal interest here – the University desperately needs a new generation of academics. But academy is not the only possible career path for a doctor. Entrepreneurship needs different kinds of solutions and manufacturing needs especially smart ideas so we can break free from a low value-added economic model.
I sincerely hope you finish your studies at Tallinn University of Technology with the feeling that you’ll stay with us for a long time – for life – so that at the graduation ceremony, instead of saying the usual “farewell,” I may simply say: “Welcome back!”
Tiit Land,
Rector of Tallinn University of Technology

We need both those who can create AI and IT solutions, and those who can apply them wisely and responsibly across every area of life.
But as we know, you cannot solve a problem without first understanding its nature. And that is your next great challenge: how to use your IT knowledge to address the pressing issues of our society.
Don’t let technology render you obsolete. Keep learning – consistently and persistently. Lifelong learning is the cornerstone of sustained success. You can learn independently or through university studies. If you’ve completed a bachelor’s degree, consider pursuing a master’s. If you already hold a master’s, don’t overlook the opportunities in doctoral studies. A solid and in-depth education opens more doors than you might imagine.
I wish you heartfelt congratulations and thank you! You didn’t leave your journey unfinished – that is a tribute to your professors and a recognition of the value of their work. Stay just as committed and determined in the future!

Dean, School of Information Technologies

Dear graduates of the School of Science!
The academic year is coming to an end and one stage in your lifelong learning has come to an end as well. The following steps on the educational path await you: for whom it is a master’s study, for some a doctoral study, for others nanodegrees, for some microdegrees, etc., etc. There are many choices, but when making choices, do not forget your university. The alumni association of the TalTech is a large and influential community in Estonian society. Make the voice of our alumni sound more and more powerfully both in Estonia and outside Estonia’s borders.

Different professions can be acquired in very different ways, even without going to school. However, school education can be acquired in schools and university education in universities. Education is more than just knowledge and skills. According to Albert Einstein, education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school. It is education that will help you cope with the immense amount of information that hits you every day. There are many people who are called opinion leaders or experts. Be careful, think critically, and don’t blindly trust these people. Even Plato once remarked that between knowledge and ignorance lies opinion. One of the hottest keywords in recent years is AI. Here, too, education is what helps you to make the right choices: blindly trust neither AI nor humans.
Congratulations on graduating and I wish you strength and a clear mind to make your dreams come true and to create a new world! Mente et manu!

Dean, School of Science

Dear Graduates!
After all those group projects, late-night seminars, exams, and thesis defenses, the day has finally come when you no longer need to submit anything to Moodle. Today is a time to celebrate – and to shine in your graduation photos!
It is often said that we learn best when things are just uncomfortable and challenging enough. I truly believe you have experienced that at TalTech – and have grown stronger and richer because of it. The moments of pushing your limits together with your peers create bonds that last far beyond university. I hope you continue to experience such moments, and I believe that today will not be your last degree or your last deep learning experience – even if right now your head feels ready to burst with knowledge.
Although university life has been intense – with many of you juggling multiple jobs and other responsibilities – a great number of you have also contributed to the most vibrant student life in the region. Thank you for enriching and leading that community spirit. But don’t be sad – this joy doesn’t have to end today. As alumni, there is still so much to experience and be part of at TalTech.
You are graduating at a time when the future feels more uncertain than ever. There is growing talk about the rising power of artificial intelligence and speculation about what role humans will play in the world to come. On one hand, AI creates opportunities that allow people to focus more on critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. On the other hand, it raises new questions: How will the job market evolve? What will be the effects on the environment and social inequality? What kind of leadership, legislation, and tax systems do we need – and will universal basic income become inevitable?
I hope you will be among those who lead in this rapidly changing world – not only with knowledge, but also with the ability and willingness to keep learning. That is the most valuable skill for the future.
On behalf of the faculty, congratulations! And heartfelt thanks also to the families, employers, friends, colleagues, and everyone else who has supported you along the way.
Mari Avarmaa,
Dean, School of Business and Governance

Dear Graduates of TalTech Estonian Maritime Academy!
Today, we celebrate your achievements, dedication, and perseverance. You have reached the finish line – which is also the beginning of a new journey. A journey that will take you to the world’s oceans, ports, and maritime enterprises – to the very heart of where the future of maritime is being shaped.
Maritime is not just a specialty, it is a way of life. It connects continents, enables trade, powers economies, and keeps the world running. You are becoming part of a global lifeline, where every decision has an impact on society, the environment, and future generations.
Today’s maritime world is undergoing a time of transformation – the green transition, digitalization, and security challenges are shaping its future. Your generation will be the one to implement solutions that make shipping more sustainable, smarter, and safer.
Your education has provided you with a solid foundation – knowledge of navigation, marine engineering, transport, and digitalization. But even more important are the skills of responsibility, teamwork, and decisiveness – qualities that matter just as much on stormy seas as they do on land.
