In February, Japanese researcher Aki Harima who is furthering her academic career at the Institute of Business Administration, draws inspiration for her research in business through nature walks. On Women in Science Day, February 11th, she shares significant moments from her life.
The moment of choice arrived when I had to decide whether to pursue research at TalTech or go to a university in Germany. This decision meant relocating to Estonia for my husband and two young children, who now learn Estonian as their third language and live away from their relatives. I chose TalTech, and thus began a new chapter for my entire family.
Moment of doubt - sometimes, I doubt if I ever do anything solely for myself. After the birth of my children, I use every minute either for research or being with my family.
Rediscovery moment - every time I take a walk in nature, a moment of rediscovery occurs. It's then that I find good ideas on how to develop my research projects or write publications. I started taking walks in nature after the birth of my first child.
