The contest for the “Women in Science” fellowships is now open. The fellowships are awarded by the Academies of Sciences and National Commissions for UNESCO of the Baltic States in cooperation with the Ministries of Education and Science. In Estonia the call is open until 16 June 2025.
Applications in Estonia for the three fellowships of €7,000 each are invited from women scientists who are currently doctoral students at any of the Estonian universities or research institutions, or who have completed their doctoral studies no more than seven years ago and are working at an Estonian university or research institution.
Two fellowships will be awarded in the fields of natural sciences, engineering and technology, medical and health sciences or agriculture and veterinary sciences – one for a Doctoral Candidate and one for a Doctor of Sciences. One fellowship will be awarded for a Doctor of Sciences in the fields of social sciences or humanities and the arts.
The decisions on the awardees will be made by September, and announced at a joint Baltic Women in Science Award Ceremony in October or November in Riga.
The aim of the fellowships is to enhance the visibility of female scientists, promote gender equality in the scientific world, and inspire the next generations of researchers. The fellowship is awarded in recognition of previous work and to support the execution of a one-year research project as described in the application.
Estonian fellowships are funded by the Ministry of Education and Research.
Applications can be submitted in the e-environment of the Estonian Academy of Sciences.
