The Tallinn University of Technology 10 km Run, taking place on May 29, offers more than just a scenic course and a lively atmosphere. This is not a typical race where prizes are awarded only based on the order of finish. Within the 10 km run, there are also special competitions inside the race, giving participants the opportunity to win prizes even if they are not aiming for first place in the full 10 km distance. In addition to the overall race winner, runners can win brand-new Nike running shoes in two special competitions that take place directly along the course.
A Race with Excitement Along the Entire Route
The Tallinn University of Technology 10 km Run is not only about crossing the finish line. Along the route, runners will encounter special competitions that offer exciting opportunities to win prizes. The real victory might actually happen on a specific section of the course - either during the Glehni Castle Mini Run or in the final 500-meter sprint.
Glehni Castle Mini Run
The first special competition is the Glehni Castle Mini Run. This challenge takes place on approximately a 1.8 km section of the course. The result is determined by net time, meaning the “pure time” measured from the starting gate to the intermediate checkpoint at Glehni Castle.
This means runners do not need to start in the very front row - their time begins the moment they cross the starting line.
The runner with the fastest net time from the start to the Glehni Castle checkpoint will win a brand-new pair of Nike running shoes of their choice.
However, it is important to remember that even though the special competition takes place on this section of the course, participants must still complete the full 10 km distance, even if at a relaxed pace or by walking.
Final 500-Meter Sprint
The second special competition takes place just before the finish line.
The final 500 meters of the race will form a separate sprint competition where the fastest man and fastest woman on that section will be determined:
- The fastest man in the last 500 meters will win a new pair of Nike running shoes.
- The fastest woman in the last 500 meters will also win a new pair of Nike running shoes.
This means that even if you run the entire distance at a steady pace, a strong sprint at the finish could still bring you a valuable prize.
The Tallinn University of Technology 10 km Run, where one race includes two special competitions and where three pairs of brand-new Nike running shoes will be awarded, takes place on May 29 at 19:00.
