Tallinn University of Technology

TalTech will elect the rector on May 18. Different units of the University have invited rector candidates to meet with them; three of these debates are also have a public broadcast – the debate for students; for administrative support staff; and a public debate on the development of the University in general. All debates take place virtually.

Rektorikandidaadid 2020

Candidates for the TalTech rector are: the current rector, Professor Jaak Aaviksoo; the director of the TalTech Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Professor Jarek Kurnitski, and the current rector of Tallinn University, Professor Tiit Land.

The new rector will take office on September 1, 2020.

April 22 at 3 p.m.

Debate of TalTech Rector Candidates: Student Special. Candidates discuss topics that are of interest to students. The debate is organised by TalTech student body, moderated by Martin Malm, a long-time student activist and a TalTech master's student.

April 28 at 3 p.m.

Debate of TalTech Rector Candidates: Support Staff Special. In addition to the academic staff, support staff also play an important role in the university. These issues will be discussed in this debate. The debate will be moderated by Tõnis Liibek, a representative of TalTech support staff in the University Senate.

May 8 at 2 p.m.

Public debate of TalTech Rector Candidates. The discussions will end with a public debate of rector candidates, which is aimed at both the university community and the general public - both the TalTech development directions and its role in society will be discussed.
