Tallinn University of Technology

On 22-28 April, several exciting events will take place in the Mustamäe campus, which are largely organised by Bachelor of Business students of the School of Business and Governance in cooperation with the Centre of Climate Smart Future. Workshops, lectures and movie evenings are planned. During the week, one can also see exhibitions and participate in competitions, the winners of which are rewarded with several sustainable prizes.

"The week is timed to coincide with Earth Day celebrated on April 22, when attention is paid to environmental protection, overconsumption and climate warming," explains Eliis Salm, the main organiser and lecturer at the School of Business and Governance. "In addition, the event also contributes into achieving of the key goal of the university's strategic plan to be climate neutral by 2035, as it helps raise awareness of the environment and sustainability," adds Epp Eglajs, head of the Centre of Climate Smart Future.

Everyone, both from the university and outside, is welcome to participate and think along. The events are free and the aim of the week is to draw attention to the topics of sustainability, ethics, responsibility and equal treatment - ensuring a livable future requires raising awareness in society and commitment from all of us.

Monday, 22 April

  • At 18.00 NRG-131 (Ehitajate tee 5/10): movie night and discussion with food scientist Rain Kuldjärv. We will watch the film "In Defense of Food" and discuss the topic of conscious nutrition. More information and registration HERE.

Tuesday, 23 April

  • At 10.00 SOC-311 (Akadeemia tee 3): SEB will talk about sustainable banking. The lecture is in English.

  • At 18.00 NRG-226 (Ehitajate tee 5/10): movie screening and discussion. "Food for Profit" is the first feature documentary that exposes the links between the meat industry, lobbying and the corridors of power. More information HERE. And register HERE.
  • At 18:30: training evening - pilates (at TalTech Sports Club)! The trainer is Diana Johanson. Pilates is a body and mind training accompanied by calm music, where both superficial and deep abdominal and back muscles are strengthened. Wednesday, 24 April

  • At 13.00 - 18.00: interactive orientation game in the Mustamäe campus, where you can collect steps, solve exciting tasks and discover the University's sustainability goals! In addition, the Rector's Cup activity points.

Thursday, 25 April

  • At 18.30: training evening - boxing (at TalTech Sports Club)! An active and interesting boxing training offered by Boxing Club Kalev develops stamina, strength and endurance. The event is free! Bring along a good mood and come to the training! Register yourself HERE. More information HERE.

All week, 22-28 April

  • Step challenge with several prizes!
  • Photo exhibition in the library's glass gallery "What kind of world do we want by 2030?"
  • An exhibition introducing the environmental effects of food in the lobby of SOC building.
  • The Danish Embassy's exhibition "Livable Cities" in the lobby of the SOC building, which briefly introduces Denmark's approach to making urban life more sustainable.
  • TalTech collects used bottles! Every bottle counts and with the pledge money collected during the week, we support the activities of the Estonian Green Movement. Look for collection containers in the SOC and main building lobby!
