The Student Union of Tallinn University of Technology awarded the title of Student of the Year to Gregor Kokk. He is an exemplary student whose impact on the TalTech Tartu College community has been remarkable: he is simultaneously a student, lecturer, initiator and inspirer.

Throughout his university career, the Tartu College student has stood out for his enthusiasm, solution-oriented mindset, competence and genuine commitment. Over the years, Gregor has made a consistent contribution to the development of the College and has actively participated in various projects and initiatives to enhance his skills and improve university life for others. He has been involved in technology and engineering initiatives, including Robolahingud, Enginaator and the AI Robotics Estonia project, and for the past two years has contributed to the development of the College as a member of the working group of the Cyber-Physical Systems specialisation.

Alongside his studies, Gregor teaches subject-specific courses to junior students. He is one of the initiators of the practical component of the course Communications and Electronics and has created an important first-year course – a 16-week programming course – which, according to students, has been highly successful. He has also been active in the Tartu College Student Society and has supported the broader development of the College, including initiating the establishment of a workshop.

According to his fellow students, Gregor is exceptionally helpful, positive and motivating. He supports other students in his free time with projects and questions and is always ready to listen and provide guidance. He is passionate about his field and is able to share this enthusiasm with others. Gregor independently launched an EIS project aimed at developing an AI-based solution for determining the location of drones based on sound, demonstrating strong innovation capacity and forward-looking thinking.

The award was presented at the academic ceremony dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Estonia on 27 February.
