Tallinn University of Technology

In collaboration with Tuul, the Tallinn University of Technology Library is inviting everyone to ride a scooter to the library during the week 22.08-28.08, at a discounted price!

This initiative comes in celebration of the Year 2022 – Year of the Libraries, and the summer season, specifically dedicated to the Libraries on wheels.

To take advantage of this promotion, simply enter the discount code taltechraamatukogu under the payment menu in the Tuul App, and enjoy!

Our partnership with Tuul is based on common values, such as ensuring a pleasant living environment and reducing noise in the city, as well as our ecological footprint. Read all about these forward-thinking topics and much more at the TalTech Library!

Circular Economy

  • Introduction to the Circular Economy
This book tries to debate on the significance of circular economy, underlying the necessity to change our way of producing, consuming, and traveling on a daily basis. The passage from a linear economy to a circular economy will help us to reduce the degradation of the environment for avoiding future disastrous consequences, such as depletion of biodiversity, scarcity of raw materials and drinking water, rising waters, etc. The circular economy, therefore, involves designing a product so that it can be recycled or its components reused. Reuse consists of introducing the product back into the economic circuit in its original condition; repair makes it possible to fix a broken good; and recovery consists of reusing its components. This is the significance of the so-called 3R strategy, illustrated in this book.

  • An Introduction to Circular Economy
This book is purposefully styled as an introductory textbook on circular economy (CE) for the benefit of educators and students of universities. It provides comprehensive knowledge exemplified by practices from policy, education, R&D, innovation, design, production, waste management, business and financing around the world. The book covers sectors such as agriculture/food, packaging materials, build environment, textile, energy, and mobility to inspire the growth of circular business transformation.

Recycling of Materials

  • Recycling and reusing of engineering materials : recycling for sustainable developments
This book covers the latest research and developments in recycling and reusing processes, including new fundamental concepts, techniques, methods and process flows. The book provides applications of these novel technologies to recycling processes and analyzes new and modern ways of recycling techniques. It provides a comprehensive literature review on fundamental aspects of recycling processes, recycling goals, characterization of waste streams, legislative policies and evaluation, electronic recycling, aircraft recycling, recycling processes, energy savings and issues, environmental issues, societal issues, recycled materials, market development for recycling, processing facilities, and awareness and importance of recycling safety.

  • Re-Use and Recycling of Materials : Solid Waste Management and Water Treatment
In recent years, a considerable amount of effort has been devoted, both in industry and academia, towards the recycling and reuse of materials. Most nations are now trying to reduce the amount of waste materials, through the proper recycling of materials.Re-Use and Recycling of Materials will help readers to understand the current status in the field of waste management, as well as what research is taking place to deal with such issues.Technical topics discussed in the book include: - Municipal solid waste management; - Recycling of WEEE; -Waste to industrially important product like lignin and cellulose; - Recycling of agriculture waste; -Polymer and plastic recycling.

Deployment of Renewable Energy

  • Energy, environment, and sustainability
As climate change effects become increasingly important in today’s world, this book helps to understand what each issue means and why it is critical to understand them. Readers learn how environmentally sound decisions involve evaluating energy and environmental footprints as well as the natural resources that are consumed to make products. Students gain an understanding of how much energy it takes to manufacture, produce, transport, use, and dispose of products.

Smart City

  • Bicycle urbanism : reimagining bicycle friendly cities
Over recent decades, bicycling has received renewed interest as a means of improving transportation through crowded cities, improving personal health, and reducing environmental impacts associated with travel. Much of the discussion surrounding cycling has focused on bicycle facility design—how to best repurpose road infrastructure to accommodate bicycling. While part of the discussion has touched on culture, such as how to make bicycling a larger part of daily life, city design and planning have been sorely missing from consideration.

  • The Platform Economy and the Smart City : Technology and the Transformation of Urban Policy
Over the past decade, cities have come into closer contact and conflict with new technologies. From reactive policymaking in response to platform economy firms to proactive policymaking in an effort to develop into smart cities, urban governance is transforming at an unprecedented speed and scale. Innovative technologies promise a brave new world of convenience and cost effectiveness - powered by cameras that monitor our movements, sensors that line our streets, and algorithms that determine our resource allocation - but at what cost? Exploring the relationship between technology and cities, this book brings together an outstanding group of authors in the field to provide a critical and necessary examination of the disruption that is under way. They look at how cities should understand and regulate novel technologies, what can be learned from proposed and failed smart city projects, and how innovative economies change the structure of cities themselves.

Supply Chain Management

  • Green Supply Chain Management
This book provides a strategic overview of sustainable supply chain management, shedding light on the theoretical background and key principles of the topic. Specifically, this book covers various thematic areas including benefits and impact of green supply chain management; enablers and barriers on supply chain operations; inbound and outbound logistics considerations; and production, packaging and reverse logistics under the notion of "greening". The ultimate aim of this textbook is to highlight the challenges in the implementation of green supply chain management in modern companies and to provide a roadmap for decision-making in real-life cases.

  • Supply Chain Management Best Practices

This book offers readers an insightful and comprehensive take on the concepts, processes, and technologies that define today’s supply chain and transportation industries. You’ll discover must-know information about traditional and core processes, as well as new technologies like drones, the Internet of Things, same-day delivery, and artificial intelligence that are transforming the industry.

    Let’s meet at the Library!
