As of August 23, a total of 2,742 new students have been matriculated in the first and second study cycle of TalTech: 1,072 in the first cycle (including 1,659 Estonians and 43 foreigners) and 1,040 in the master's studies (including 946 Estonians and 94 foreigners; the numbers also include those who start their studies in study programmes coordinated by other higher education institutions).
Although you can enter the first study cycle based on the results of the state examinations and a medal does not increase the chances of getting in, the number of medal holders beginning their studies this year is nevertheless the highest of recent years – 141 with a silver medal and 175 with a gold medal (134/173 in 2022 and 89/121 in 2021 respectively). This year, the gold medallists primarily targeted the IT study programmes of Informatics, IT Systems Development and Business Information Technology, where 22 medallists entered each programme. For the silver medallists, the first choices were Business (19), Informatics (15) and Structural Engineering and Construction Management (14).
Which secondary school provided the most admissions? The fact that the largest number of entrants to the first study cycle of TalTech came from Pärnu Koidula secondary school did not come as a surprise, since the highest number of entrants have come from this school for several years. This year, the number of new students from Pärnu is 86, which is the highest in the last five years. In the second place is Viimsi secondary school (54) and Tallinn Secondary School of Science (47) is the third. There were also 62 schools from which only one person entered the first cycle.
432 graduates of the first cycle of TalTech (2022 year 346) are starting their master's studies. The number of people coming from the University of Tartu also increased – 124 this year, 94 last year. 114 people from TTK University of Applied Sciences will study in our master's programmes this year.
