On 9 October, from 10:00 to 13:00, the second national E-Rehkendus (E-Calculation) event took place, bringing together nearly 12,000 participants across schools, homes, and offices in Estonia to test their mathematical skills.

The event drew 27,312 registered participants, of whom 11,891 submitted their answers – 872 more than last year.
The SEB Bank grand prize of €1,234 was raffled among all participants with correct answers, and the winner was Tõnu Robert Rand.
A total of 213 participants answered all 12 questions correctly without using AI!
TalTech’s Rector Tiit Land took part in the challenge alongside students at Pärnu Koidula Gymnasium, a school whose alumni have consistently formed the largest group among TalTech’s entrants. Land highlighted the link between mathematics and the future:
“Our country’s digital transformation, environmental sustainability, and economic resilience all depend on strong STEM skills. Mathematics is not just formulas and exam results – it is our second national language.”
The tasks were created by members of the School Mathematics Section of the Estonian Mathematical Society – teachers Hele Kiisel, Helen Kaasik, Kristel Tamm, and Anneli Nellis.
For the first time, results could also be compared within groups – 813 groups were registered in total. The largest ones were from Nõo Gymnasium (262 participants) and Narva State Gymnasium (129 participants).
Compared to last year, the website now displays only verified and realistic data.
All tasks from this year will remain open until next year’s E-Rehkendus, and the solutions will be published on 10 October. Estonian Public Broadcasting’s Vikerraadio will feature a summary today at 15:15 on the Reporteritund programme.
The event was organised by TalTech in cooperation with ERR and SEB Bank.
