Tallinn University of Technology

On 20 March, the School of Business and Governance held a ceremony to recognise outstanding staff members who have contributed to the development of the School and the advancement of research. A total of 31 staff members were honoured, whose achievements and daily work are an example to colleagues and students alike. “These awards highlight people at different career stages – from young PhD students to senior colleagues – and a wide range of achievements," said School of Business and Governance Dean Mari Avarmaa in her opening speech, adding: “Each and every one of you has done something admirable over the past year. For that, I am sincerely grateful. Once again, I want to express my deep gratitude for your dedication, impact, and the support you provide to one another.”

MONIKA NIKITINA-KALAMÄE 
School of Business and Governance Lecturer of the Year 2024 
Monika is a lecturer who, despite the complexity of the subject she teaches, manages to motivate students and is highly valued among them. Her strengths include thorough and clear explanations, a supportive attitude, and well-structured teaching methods. Monika is attentive to students' questions and concerns and has an excellent command of her subject.

Hele Saar is highly valued by students, and colleagues praise her for her willingness to collaborate and her insightful contributions. She has actively participated in curriculum development, successfully pursued professional development, and contributed to organizing a seminar for Estonian and Finnish language teachers.

As a dedicated and enthusiastic program director, Leno inspires students not only through the continuous development of the curriculum but also with a sincere and friendly demeanor and impressive expertise in the field.

Maria is a professional and dedicated colleague who is indispensable in supporting research development and activities related to doctoral students. Colleagues value her as a supportive, systematic, and precise team member who always remains calm and achieves her goals with confidence and efficiency. 

WOLFGANG JOHANNES MAX DRECHSLER  
School of Business and Governance PhD Supervisor of the year 2024 
Schools’s PhD Supervisor Award goes to the doctoral thesis supervisor who has (co)supervised the highest number of defended doctoral theses in the School of Business and Governance at Tallinn University of Technology in the last three academic years. In the past three years, three PhD students under his supervision have successfully completed their studies, whereas all within the nominal duration of doctoral studies.
