The Department of Energy Technology participated in the SQUARES meeting from January 28-31, 2025 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Daffodil International University (DIU) and Dhaka University (DU) hosted the full consortium meeting of the SQUARES project. The event brought together project partners from various South Asia and European institutions to review progress and plan future activities.
SQUARES (Sustainability and Quality Assurance for Academic Governance and Redesign Engineering Studies) is an Erasmus+ Capacity Building initiative focused on enhancing engineering education and quality management across higher education institutions in Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.
The meeting opened with an official welcome and presentation of DIU, followed by discussions on the progress of the project Work Packages. Key topics included an overview of teaching frameworks in Domains 1-4, online teaching and learning facilities at DIU, and an analysis of quality management in higher education institutions (HEIs).
The meetings also covered presentations from expert guests, such as Faysal Ibna Rahman, Senior Transport Modeller, SMEC, who presented about Transport dynamics in Dhaka, challenges, and modelling perspectives, and Shah Al Mamun from DIU, who talked about Online teaching and learning facilities of DIU.
In addition to the project meeting, this event also included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and Academic Collaboration (MoU) between Tallinn University of Technology and Daffodil International University, Bangladesh.
The meeting successfully advanced the project’s goals. The next consortium meeting will be held in Islamabad, Pakistan, this year, on a date to be decided.
