Tallinn University of Technology

The European Centre for Space Law (ECSL) and TalTech Department of Law are very happy, excited (and exhausted!) following the successful conclusion of the 2025 ECSL Summer Course “Cybersecurity in the context of Space Law and Policy”, held in Tallinn, at the Tallinn University of Technology 18-29 August 2025.

Participants of the 2025 ECSL Summer Course, “Cybersecurity in the context of Space Law and Policy”

50 participants (45 students and five young professionals), six tutors and all together about 30 lecturers from more than 25 countries filled two intensive weeks with basic space law knowledge about treaties, non-binding instruments, EU law and space institutions; insights into the latest of cybersecurity; a visit to space colleagues in Finland; facts about national space legislation – including the Estonian space law, that is in final stages of drafting – and much else. The course concluded with presentations of the group project work, where the jury of space professionals were very impressed with proposals for how to use space for Baltic security.

In addition to the hard work, participants could enjoy a social event at the Open-Air museum Rocca al Mare, a visit to the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communication and to the e-Estonia showroom. And of course, time to enjoy the many sights of Tallinn, facilitated by the generous provision of free public transport by the city of Tallinn!
