The TalTech 10 km run, taking place on May 29, offers not only a fantastic atmosphere, performers, and enthusiastic supporters, but also an updated course. The distance runs through the university campus and along the scenic Nõmme-Harku running trails. Compared to previous years, additional elevation has been added, yet the course remains accessible and enjoyable for everyone – both for those aiming for a personal record and for those who simply want to enjoy the joy of movement.
Indeed, last year’s feedback highlighted that there were already quite a few elevation meters. We listened carefully and decided to add even more this year. Naturally, with only the best intentions – so that the sense of pride at the finish line would be even greater.
Start and finish in the heart of the campus
The start and finish are located in the heart of the university campus. This creates a special atmosphere for everyone: for some, it brings back memories of student days; for others, it represents the present; and for some, it symbolizes a future to strive toward. Here, academic sharpness and strategy blend with sporting spirit – a healthy mind in a healthy body.
The route towards Glehn castle and forest trails
After the start, runners head along Raja street towards Glehn Castle. Before reaching the first checkpoint, participants must conquer the first significant climb, which raises the pulse and rewards runners with a true sense of accomplishment once completed. From Glehn Castle, the course continues through the park and leads runners onto the Nõmme-Harku running trails, where the route runs mainly on forest paths.
Refreshment stations
Along the course, runners will encounter two refreshing, energizing and lively refreshment stations. The first is located at approximately the 3 km mark, offering a chance to catch your breath and adjust your pace. On the way back from the forest, the second station awaits at 6.5 km, providing many runners with the necessary energy boost for the final kilometers.
Final kilometers and a victorious finish
The final section brings runners back near Glehn Castle, where a well-earned downhill stretch awaits. From there, the course leads back toward the university campus with a tailwind, allowing runners to complete a symbolic loop around the university building before finishing with powerful emotion at the finish line.
Finishing on campus means cheering crowds, vibrant atmosphere, and that special feeling that every climb and every step on the forest trails was worth it. The TalTech 10 km is not just a sporting effort – it is an experience that brings together the university, students, alumni, and friends.
