Today, Rector of TalTech Tiit Land and CEO of Skepast&Puhkim Anni Konsap signed a framework agreement that launches a partnership to achieve a shared goal – the promotion of engineering programmes and ensuring a succession of engineers.

TalTech offers partnership opportunities to companies in research and development projects, options to include the intellectual potential of the university in development activities, and the testing of new solutions. Skepast&Puhkim will open its doors to engineering students as an internship partner and a future employer, help with theses, offer practical exercises related to large projects to students, and award a grant. In addition, Skepast&Puhkim will continue to support the basketball team of TalTech this season.

‘We as a future employer want to invest in the students and the engineering programme of TalTech. This autumn, the company is going to award a grant to a student specialising in road and bridge construction,’ said Hendrik Puhkim, a partner in Skepast&Puhkim. ‘Temporary market fluctuations do not affect the demand for engineers significantly; it remains high at all times,’ stated Puhkim.
According to Erik Puura, Vice-Rector for Entrepreneurship of TalTech, the university expects a close cooperation in research and development. ‘Our action plan requires cooperation in preparing expert assessments regarding road and bridge construction, water and sewerage systems, environmental management and spatial planning, as well as testing new solutions and ideas. We are definitely going to have many opportunities for joint development,’ said Puura.
In the opinion of Hendrik Voll, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of TalTech, Skepast&Puhkim is a remarkable company where most of the staff are alumni of TalTech. ‘The new framework agreement is an excellent example of alumni returning to their alma mater, improving and expanding the study and internship options of the current students even further,’ he said. ‘I hope our partnership allows to offer additional grants and increase the capabilities of study laboratories soon,’ added Voll.
