TalTech Basketball held a grandiose introduction event for their this year’s basketball team in Taltech Sports Club on 9th of September.
The team as well as the sponsors were introduced spectacularly, accompanied by music, lights and always amazing TalTech Cheerleaders. Later in the evening, the sponsors and players were paired up to have a fun little competition in blindfolded shootout.
Rait Käbin, the Head of Sports Facilities stated that the Sports Club is proud to have the capability to offer a double-career for not only young high school graduates but also for Estonian basketball legends already in their 30’s that have decided to follow up with their education path in TalTech. When addressing the expectations, mr. Käbin is expecting no less than a shiny medal this year- a feat that has not happened in a very long time.
Kris Killing, who took over the team during midseason of last year, will continue as the head coach of the team this year as well. The assistant coach position was given to Gregor Arber- a former player of TalTech and Estonian national team. The older newcomers in the team are Indrek Kajupank, Tanel Sokk and Erik Keedus. Younger newcomers are Georg Allemann and Karl Andres Matute Perner. Jaan Erik Lepp, Ralf Küttis and Ken-Martti Reinart will join the team from TalTech’s youth system. Oliver Metsalu, Martin Otto Parve, Janar Aniste, Rait Tammet, Sander Viilup and Eric Schmalz will continue with the team. Jaan Puidet, a TalTech fan favourite, will rejoin the team as a captain after spending some time in Sweden.
During 2020/21 season, TalTech Basketball will compete in the Paf Estonian-Latvian League as well as Paf SuperCup.
TalTech Volleyball has published it’s this year’s teams as well.
Marko Mett will continue as the head coach of TalTech/Tradehouse women’s volleyball team. Robert Oppari will join him as the assistant coach. TalTech’s women’s team, just as last year, will be the league’s big favorite to win it all. The responsibility of winning will lie on Nette Peit, Mari Loormann, Julija Mõnnakmäe, Merilin Paalo, Eliise Hollas, Silvia Pertens, Maria Säästla, Eliisa Peit, Kärt Unt, Eva Liisa Kuivonen, Dzintra Lember, Kristi Nõlvak, Helena Loos, Karolina Kibbermann, Kadi Kullerkann and Marily Lass.
TalTech men’s team will continue with their long-time coach Janis Sirelpuu and has added some experienced players to the roster in order to fight for medals.
TalTech Volleyball 2020/21 men’s team: Karlo Remy Kallend, Markus Mailma, Aleksander Eerma, Remo Torn, Joonas Popman, Jörgen Vanamõisa, Sten Perillus, Mihkel Tanila, Janno Õunpuu, Jan Markus Üprus, Cris Karlis Lepp, Tamur Viidalepp, Valentin Kordas, Jan Solovjov and Rasmus Meius.
