The TalTech School of Business and Governance Law Department is launching a series of legal design events aimed at academics, public and private sector professionals and students. The events aim to foster a collaborative learning environment by involving interdisciplinary stakeholders such as students, practitioners, policy makers and business representatives.
In previous years, the TalTech Department of Law has hosted several successful events, including the Proactive Law and Legal Design Panel in 2022 and the Strategic Contracting Workshop in 2023. In 2024, they have embarked on an ambitious series of events, with a focus on three more major events this year:
- Foundations of Legal Design Seminar (November 14, 2024): This seminar, developed in collaboration with experts from the State Shared Service Centre and Legal Design Studio, will dive into the fundamental principles of legal design. It aims to provide participants with practical insights and tools, positioning legal design as an essential skill in modern legal practice.
- Book Launch for Legal Design: Dignifying People in Legal Systems (November 21, 2024): The second event celebrates the recent release of Legal Design: Dignifying People in Legal Systems, with a talk by editor Jules Sievert from Northeastern University. This event underscores TalTech’s commitment to fostering dignified, human-centered approaches in legal systems. (Event will be hosted as invitation/confirmation only. - Keynote by Prof. Robert Bird on Legal Strategy (December 5, 2024): Esteemed legal scholar Prof. Robert Bird from University of Connecticut will deliver an insightful keynote on the intersection of legal strategy and design, offering unique perspectives on the evolving role of law in corporate and societal contexts.
In addition to these events, TalTech Department of Law has partnered with notable international platforms, including the Legal Design Summit and World Commerce and Contracting Academic Symposiums, strengthening its global ties and facilitating international collaboration.
Upcoming Legal Design Workshop Series
Following this event series, TalTech Department of Law will launch a legal design workshop series mainly dedicated to the research groups, anticipated to cover a wide range of topics designed for academics, professionals from public and private sectors and students. These workshops will offer hands-on training in legal design methodologies, engaging participants in practical exercises that enhance understanding and application. The workshops aim to attract an interdisciplinary audience, including law students, legal practitioners, policymakers, and corporate representatives, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
