Research Focus: Performance Management Systems

Kadak’s main research interests focus on performance management systems and their role in supporting the sustainable success of organizations. Over time, his research has expanded to include real-time economy and accounting, accounting information systems, digitalisation and automation of accounting, applications of AI in accounting and management, as well as the development of a company’s digital twin.

“My research interests have broadened over time but revolve around a central theme – how performance management systems, performance measurement and management support the sustainable success of organizations,” Kadak explained. “Later research directions have included the real-time economy and accounting, accounting information systems, digitalisation and automation of accounting, AI in accounting and management, and the digital twin of the enterprise.”

Commitment to Supporting Estonian Society

According to him, it is essential that academic work directly supports Estonian society: “In teaching, this is already guaranteed. In research, such a contribution would be ensured if every study were connected to opportunities, risks, or problems currently existing or likely to emerge in Estonian society, economy, or enterprises. There is knowledge that only our university community possesses, and it would be a pity if it remained unused for Estonia. Fortunately, there are good examples where we have contributed to solving real problems – and by continuing in this way, the benefits for us will be manifold.”
