Why doesn’t collaboration between humans and AI always work as expected? This question is raised — and also answered — by the research article of prof Mari-Klara Stein, selected as the best paper of the year in the field of social sciences and humanities, which was published in the journal Information and Organization.

In the field of technology, two papers were selected: a research article published in Science Advances on the development of a new analytical method, FITSA, and a research article published in IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Vehicles on a neural network–based methodology for managing and evaluating battery charging processes.

The best paper of the year was awarded to a research article co-authored by junior professor Indrek Koppel from the Institute of Chemistry and Biotechnology. The article was published in the prestigious journal Cell and examined how cells of the peripheral nervous system respond to injury.
