TalTech researchers Dmitri Nešumajev, Dmitri Vinnikov and Margus Viigimaa are among the 20 candidates, from whom four new academicians will be selected in December.
Dmitri Nešumajev works as a senior researcher in the Department of Energy Technology, Dmitri Vinnikov is a researcher-professor in the TalTech School of Engineering and head of the Power Electronics Research Group and Margus Viigimaa is a tenured full professor in the Department of Health Technologies.
This year, academicians will be selected in four fields: astronomy and astrophysics, cultural history, public health, and engineering and computer sciences.
The board of the Estonian Academy of Sciences have registered 20 candidates for four academician positions based on received proposals. With nine candidates applying for one position, the greatest competition is in the field of public health.
New academicians will be announced at the general assembly of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, which will take place on 8 December.
