Aki Harima is Professor in Entrepreneurship in Department of Business Administration starting from February the 1st.
Please introduce yourself.
I am originally from Japan. I was born and raised in Osaka. Before coming to TalTech, I have lived in Germany for 15 years. I worked as a research associate at the University of Bremen for ten years. I am excited to be part of the TalTech community!
Which of your knowledge and experience come handy in your new position?
My research portfolio comprises three main domains: transnational entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and entrepreneurship education. I have extensive research experience on the entrepreneurial potential of refugees and migrants. Furthermore, I have studied entrepreneurial ecosystems in several countries, including Chile, Namibia, Germany, and Estonia. I also study how university entrepreneurial ecosystems emerge and function.
What are your goals in your tenure position at TalTech?
I want to help make TalTech a leading university in entrepreneurship research and education, known throughout Europe and beyond.
One surprise that you have had within your time at TalTech?
The biggest surprise was the department sauna. I was surprised to hear one can organize some events and workshops at the department sauna. I imagine workshop participants can be creative after relaxing in the sauna!
