  • Have you found an interesting piece of rock or a fossil and do not know what it is?

  • Would you like to learn more about the geological structures in your area, but do not know where to start?

  • You wish to write a study about something connected to geology or mining?

  • You're looking for data about your well, but do not know where to turn to?

  • You are curious whether your diamond ring is genuine or how much gold is there in your golden chain?

  • You would like to know more about big boulders in Estonia and how they got here?

These and many other questions about rocks, minerals, mineral resources, extinct lifeforms and other subjects connected to geology or mining can be answered by researchers and engineers in the TalTech Department of Geology.

Write to us: gi@taltech.ee. If possible, add a photo of the object you want to ask about (it would help to have a small object next to it for measure, such as a coin or a matchbox).

You are also welcome to visit us in order to meet with a specialist, but in that case, please make an appointment in advance by calling +372 620 3010.

Often, initial identification of a rock or object can be made through visual observation alone, but for a more accurate assessment or verification, it may be necessary to conduct laboratory analyses. For more information about analyses and consultations, please see here: services and price list.
