English Proficiency Tests

Take your English Test in Tallinn University of Technology!

The English Proficiency Test, administered by the Centre for Language and Communication of Tallinn University of Technology, is a test of general academic language abilities and literacy skills. The test result can be used as an evidence of English language proficiency to apply for:

  • study abroad programs (for students of Tallinn University of Technology (Test 1 or Test 2)
  • studies at Tallinn University of Technology (Test 2)
     

NB!
TalTech English Proficiency Test is offered in TalTech Campus, Tallinn, Estonia. It is not possible to take TalTech English test online.
This is a paper-based test, so please bring a pen to write with.

ABOUT THE ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TESTS
TEST 1: Length: 1 hour (60 minutes)
The test fee: €40 
Content:

  • Written Test (a multiple-choice grammar and vocabulary test)
  • Speaking Test (discussion in pairs)
     

TEST 2
Length: 2.5 hours

The test fee: €60 
Content of the test

  • Writing Test (an argumentative essay)
  • Listening Test (listening for detail and gap-filling tasks)
  • Reading Test (reading comprehension and vocabulary tasks)
  • Speaking Test (discussion in pairs)


TEST DESCRIPTION

The test results will be known during 5 work days after the test date.
A copy of Certificate of Proficiency in English will be sent to a student by email.
NB! TalTech English Proficiency Test can be retaken only 4 months after the first trial of the test.

The test fee is €40 (Test 1) or €60 (Test 2). Please pay the test fee via bank transfer.

TEST PRACTICALITIES
At the Test, the candidate is expected to present a photo ID (a passport or ID-card). Students will not be admitted to the Test without the required document. In order to register for the Test, the candidate is expected to complete the registration form two working days prior to the Test at the latest.
