How many drones are actually flying around in Estonia, which models are most common, where people are flying the most, and how often existing flight restrictions are violated? In this session, we will explore these questions using the key findings of a recent study on unmanned aviation usage and trends in Estonia.
The study was commissioned by the Estonian Transport Administration and carried out in collaboration between Tallinn University of Technology and HeckTech Solutions OÜ. Its aim was to map the use and trends of unmanned aviation in Estonia and to gather factual information on unmanned aviation activities. This helps the Estonian Transport Administration better understand sector bottlenecks, the extent of unmanned aviation usage and potential risk areas in the airspace shared with manned aviation.
The results are based on data collected between January 2023 and 24 November 2025. During this period, approximately 75,000 flights and 7,700 unique drones were identified, providing a solid overview of how drones are used in Estonian airspace.
This is a public lecture open to everyone, both members of TalTech and the general public. The session will be held in English and will last approximately 45 minutes.
The event is organised by the Communication Systems Research Group at the Thomas Johann Seebeck Department of Electronics , TalTech.
