TalTech Virumaa College Oil Shale Competence Center fuel technology research and testing laboratory has renewed its accreditation certificate by 5 years and expanded the scope of accreditation.

The laboratory is involved in analysis of liquid and solid fuel, among solid fuels it analyzes oil shale, wood, peat, and bio-waste. Fuel waste, plastics, plastic waste, and tire сhips were included into the scope of accreditation.

The accreditation included an analysis of what we can do today in relation to important solid fuels that companies would like to use more in the development of the circular economy. For these types of fuels in the laboratory, we analyze the ash content, total humidity, determine the calorific value, chlorine, fluorine, sulfur and other parameters“ " added Olga Pihl, head of the laboratory.

The fuel technology research and testing laboratory is a test laboratory L059 accredited by the Estonian Accreditation Centre with respect to the requirements of the Standard EVS-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017. The accreditation certificate is renewed on 12 May 2021 year and valid until 11 May 2026 year.
