Power Systems Research Group

The electrical systems research group deals with the overall issues of the electrical system, from the planning of electrical networks, modelling of electrical systems to the construction and testing of power plants. The competence of the research group includes development, research, consultation, expertise and modelling services.

Electrical Networks

  • system planning, including steady-state and stability calculations, reliability assessment, optimization of network losses, economic analyses, calculations and evaluation of black-start capability, reactive power compensation
  • design and construction
  • analysis and development of relay protection and automation systems

Power Systems

  • real-time simulations and control applications development (RTDS)
  • operational and power quality; assessment and measurements

Power Plants

  • operation of power plants, including compliance with Grid Code and network operator technical specifications
  • consultations on construction and connection
  • plant modelling in respective software (PSCAD, PSS/E, DilgSILENT)
  • development, adjustment and testing of plant controllers 
  • operational measurements, including compliance testing, power quality measurements
  • development, adjustment and testing of communication and control solutions/applications
