HydroMast
Description: The hydromast is a unique flow sensor designed for sensing the velocity magnitude and flow direction near surfaces. Developed as part of H2020 project Lakhsmi to address the lack of in-situ measurement technologies capable of measuring near-bed flow conditions in shallow waters.

Key features:
-
Robust underwater sensing in turbid flows from 0.3 to 1.2 m/s, up to 30 m depth, and waves
-
Can be mounted horizontally or vertically on natural or built surfaces
-
Spatially distributed, synchronous flow-sensing arrays of hydromasts can be deployed for large-scale mapping of near-bed flows
-
Possible live data feeds (directly from device (RS485), through communication module via LoRa, GSM) or offline logging with battery pack
Sectors: harbour safety, flow measurement for oil and gas riser, coastal and river sediment transport, coastal insurance
