3D scanning and reverse engineering laboratory

Overview

The 3D Scanning and Reverse Engineering Laboratory is a laboratory of the TALTECH Institute of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. The laboratory focuses on product virtualization, quality control and reverse engineering using 3D scanning technology. The laboratory serves both research projects, business collaborations and student development projects.

Equipment and capabilities

The laboratory has the following equipment:

• GOM ATOS II 400 – optical 3D scanning


• Creaform ACADEMIA 50 - hand scanner

Main areas of activity

- Product scanning and creation of virtual models;

- Reverse engineering of products and making changes to virtual models;

- Quality control and measurement, including comparing existing virtual models with the scanned model;

- Preparation of models for 3D printing of product copies;

- Support for research projects;

- Supervision of students.

Collaboration and projects

The 3D scanning and reverse engineering laboratory performs custom work for various industrial companies, supports TalTech research projects and helps students implement engineering development ideas.
