Support the university and students

The companies offering the scholarships decide who will receive their scholarship.  

We send the companies the list of candidates and the corresponding documents at least a week after the application period ends, and we eagerly await the committees' responses.  

Each committee has its own approach to making a decision, and you should also be prepared for the possibility that the company may contact you directly for further discussion. Some companies conduct interviews over the phone, while others might invite you to visit their office.  

The list of selected candidates will be published on the Development Fund’s website approximately one month after the application period ends.

The required documents are determined by the scholarship provider. Usually, these include a motivation letter, a CV, and an academic transcript from the Student Counsellor. However, it is often necessary to submit an essay on a given topic and a recommendation letter as well.  

Be sure to carefully read the scholarship guidelines to ensure you know exactly which documents need to be submitted!

Since your motivation and recommendation letters will be read by the scholarship sponsors, you should address the letters specifically to the representative of the company offering your chosen scholarship.

You can request an academic transcript from your school’s Student Counsellor. The easiest way to do this is via email, and the contact information can be found on the TalTech website.  

Don’t leave this to the last minute, as the dean’s office is only open during regular working hours.

Each candidate can submit up to three applications for scholarships.  

If a student is selected as the recipient of more than one scholarship, the decision will be returned to the student. A single student can receive only one scholarship in the main competition. The scholarship that is declined by the student will, in agreement with the company, be awarded to the next eligible student. 

IT College scholarship is intended for one successful student of Tallinn University of Technology’s IT College enrolled in one of the following Bachelor’s degree study programmes (IT Systems Development, IT Systems Administration, Cyber Security Engineering) or Master’s degree study programmes (Analysis and Design of Information Systems, Digital Transformation in Business), who meets the following conditions: 

• matriculated at Tallinn University of Technology; (may also be on academic leave at the time of application);
• at least 30 ECTS completed by the day of application;
• active participation in introducing one’s own field of study as well as other specialties of the IT College (and the School of Information Technologies) at public events, school visits, etc. 

The amount of the scholarship is 500 EUROS which shall be paid in one lump sum payment. 

In order to apply for the scholarship, applicants shall have to submit the following to the Management Board of the Development Fund:

• CV;
• Motivation letter (where the applicant explains their compliance with the stated requirements);
• Recommendation letter from a Programme Director, lecturer, internship supervisor, IT College staff member, former/current employer, or the head of a (student) organisation (in which the student has been actively involved).

Juulius' Disciples Scholarship Fund has been established to recognise and acknowledge TalTech students who, through their dedication, enthusiasm, initiative, and voluntary contribution, keep the spirit of the university alive and create value for the entire university community. 

The scholarship is intended for one successful student of Tallinn University of Technology who meets the following conditions:    

• Matriculated at Tallinn University of Technology and not on academic leave at the moment of submitting the application;
• Has demonstrated responsibility, care, and a willingness to contribute even where such contribution is not required;
• Has engaged in voluntary activities for the benefit of the university, student organisations, or the TalTech community;
• Has demonstrated an exemplary attitude and enthusiasm through which the candidate has inspired and supported other students;
• Has not previously received this scholarship.

The amount of one scholarship is 500 euros. The scholarship amount shall be paid in one instalment. 

In order to apply for the scholarship, applicants shall have to submit the following to the Management Board of the Development Fund:

Neo Performance Materials scholarship is intended up to two TalTech masters and/or doctoral studies students who are willing to conduct their thesis or research on topics that are related to rare earth elements, hydrometallurgy and neodymium sintered magnet production. Candidates need to meet the following requirements:  

• matriculated at TalTech and not on academic leave as of the moment of submitting the application;    
• enthusiastic of their area of specialization, and the ambition to become a top specialist in the rare earths field;  
• candidate sees themselves supporting the creation of the Estonian Center of Excellence on Rare Earths R&D and neodymium sintered magnet R&D;  
• is open to opportunity for internship at Neo Materials Performance (NPM Silmet or NPM Narva); the exact form of cooperation would be determined in communication with the scholarship sponsor.

One student will be selected for NPM Silmet & one student for NPM Narva given the alignment of the research topic with the respective NEO business division and its interests. 

The amount of one scholarship is 2500 euros. The scholarship amount shall be paid in one instalment. 

In order to apply for the scholarship, applicants shall have to submit the following documents (all in English) to the Management Board of the Development Fund:

• A motivation letter in which the applicant explains how they meet the established requirements;  
• A short essay (maximum 1 A4) or description of the desired research and/or thesis topic:  
  • alignment with NEOs business interests in the field of rare earth solvent extraction separation chemistry/processing and neodymium sintered magnet processing
• Curriculum vitae;  
• An extract from study results (from the Dean’s Office); First-year students must submit their previous level graduation certificate along with the grades;
• A recommendation from a lecturer, a practical training supervisor, a previous employer OR the head of a (student) organisation (in which you have been an active contributor).

Future Talent Scholarship of Swedbank is intended for one successful TalTech bachelor student studying at the School of Business and Governance and one successful TalTech bachelor student studying at the School of Information Technologies, who meet the following requirements:

• Good weighted average grade;
• Study performance volume at least 30 ECP by the day of submission of the application;
• An active attitude to life and a fan of their area of specialization, aiming to become a top specialist in the area;  
• The opportunity to complete an internship at Swedbank, the exact form of cooperation would be determined in communication with the sponsor.  

The amount of one scholarship is 2000 euros which shall be paid in one instalment.

Grow Finance Scholarship: Artificial Intelligence in Accounting is intended for one resourceful bachelor's student from the School of Business and Governance at Tallinn University of Technology, who meets the following conditions:

• Matriculated at TalTech and not on academic leave as at the moment of submitting the application;  
• Study performance volume at least 60 ECP by the day of submission of the application;
• An active attitude towards life and a passion for their field, with the ambition to succeed and achieve goals in the financial sector;
• Ready to collaborate with Grow Finance OÜ; the exact form of cooperation will depend on the agreement between the scholarship recipient and Grow Finance OÜ;
• Willingness to visit the company and meet with the company’s management. 

The amount of one scholarship is 2000 euros which shall be paid in one instalment. 

In order to apply for the scholarship, applicants shall have to submit the following to the Management Board of the Development Fund:

• Up to a 10-sentence discussion on the following topic: Imagine you are the company’s Chief Financial Officer/accountant. Which specific process would you automate with AI and why? Describe how this change could support the company’s growth or innovation;

• Doesn’t have a valid employment relationship (including contractual agreement) with AS Tallinn Vesi and/or Watercom OÜ (except internship);
• Study performance volume at least 60 ECP by the day of submission of the application;
• An active attitude to life and a fan of his/her area of specialisation, aiming to become a top specialist in the area;
• An opportunity to sign a contract with AS Tallinna Vesi, outlining an agreement for an internship and/or thesis work;  
• An opportunity to participate in at least one project with AS Tallinna Vesi, during which a professional task will be solved. 

The amount of the bachelor’s study scholarship is 2000 EUROS. The scholarship shall be paid in one lump sum payment.

The amount of the master’s study scholarship is 3000 EUROS. The scholarship shall be paid in one lump sum payment.

ABB AS continues awarding the ABB Bachelor’s Scholarship, established in 2008, to students of the School of Engineering at Tallinn University of Technology.

ABB bachelor’s study scholarship is intended for one successful student of Tallinn University of Technology in the field of Electrical Power Engineering and Mechatronics, Product Development and Robotics, or Integrated Technologies, who meets the following requirements:

• matriculated at Tallinn University of Technology and not on academic leave at the time of application;
• a weighted average grade of at least 3.5;
• motivation to pursue a career in the chosen field;
• a true enthusiast of their field, aiming to become a top specialist in the area;
• an active attitude towards life and a willingness to contribute to the further development of the field;
• readiness to sign an agreement with ABB AS, stipulating a recommendation to complete an internship at ABB AS and the possibility to write the final thesis on a topic suggested by ABB AS. 

The amount of one scholarship is 2000 euros which shall be paid in one instalment.

• Doesn’t have a valid employment relationship (including contractual agreement) with AS Tallinn Vesi and/or Watercom OÜ (except internship);
• An outstanding PhD student, who actively takes part in scientific conferences or seminars and writing scientific publications;
• An active attitude to life and a fan of their area of specialisation;
• Has not been granted a scholarship by AS Tallinn Vesi while studying on the current doctoral specialty;
• Readiness to cooperate with Tallinna Vesi AS in at least one project, during which a task in the specialty is solved. 

The amount of the doctoral study scholarship is 4000 EUROS. The scholarship shall be paid in one lump sum payment.

The doctoral study scholarship of Mati Jostov is aimed at facilitating the learning motivation of TalTech students and the succession of TalTech academic personnel.

The scholarship is intended for one successful TalTech doctoral student who is studying in an area of specialization related to energetics. 

The amount of the scholarship is 5000 EUROS which shall be paid in one lump sum payment. 

In order to apply for the scholarship, applicants shall have to submit the following to the Management Board of the Development Fund:

• A motivation letter;
• Curriculum Vitae;
• A description of the research;
• An extract from study results (from the Dean’s Office);
• A recommendation from the supervisor of the doctoral student;
• A recommendation from the dean of the school or the director of the institute.
