eMedLab
eMedLab is an informal group working in the field of digital health and medical informatics at Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech). It brings together researchers from the Centre for Digital Health and Business Information Technology research groups of the School of Information Technologies, as well as the students they supervise. The scientific leads of eMedLab are Professor Peeter Ross and Professor Gunnar Piho. The group comprises around 20 researchers who study the opportunities and challenges of using health and medical data owned and controlled by individuals and develop new methods and technologies to address these challenges.
Exploring new models for secure and interoperable health data management and the delivery of digital health services, eMedLab aims to contribute to a future in which individuals, rather than institutions, are the primary stewards of health data, and in which people are involved as co-creators of digital health services. Through its research, the group supports the development of ethically responsible and technically reliable frameworks that balance privacy, accessibility, and societal benefit.
