Tallinn University of Technology

ERASMUS+ financial support

Students who are selected to participate in the Erasmus programme by their home university, will receive a scholarship financed by the European Commission and the Republic of Estonia.

Financial support for physical student mobility

  • 600 EUR per 30 days – Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden
  • 600 EUR per 30 days – Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain
  • 540 EUR per 30 days – Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, North Macedonia, Turkey

Please note that:

Students participating in Erasmus studies, will receive an additional 250 EUR per semester on behalf of the Estonian Government.

The scholarship is usually not sufficient to cover all expenses during the exchange semester. Therefore, the students may need to use some of their own funds (savings, parents' support, loans).

Double-financing is not allowed, which means that if a student receives any other scholarship financed by the European Commission or the Republic of Estonia, they can participate in the Erasmus programme, but without Erasmus scholarship.

Students who have qualified for the need-based study allowance or need-based special allowance for the semester (or for the semester before) the exchange studies are entitled to additional scholarship of 250 euro top-up in a month.
Student has to submit the Letter of Confirmation proving the allocation of the allowance to the Mobility Centre on the following dates to mobility@taltech.ee:

  • Exchange studies for autumn or full academic year - 15th of July
  • Exchange studies for spring semester - 15th of November

Need based allowance certificate is available from the Estonian state portal (file name: OTSUS). Special need based allowance certificate you can get from the Dean's Office.

Additional funding is available for participants with physical, mental or health-related conditions via the Erasmus+ special needs support. Erasmus+ grants may therefore be higher than the regular study grant to offset the specific difficulties faced by the participant (such as adapted accommodation, travel assistance, medical attendance, supportive equipment, adaption of learning material, an accompanying person for students with disabilities). This additional support grant is a contribution based on real costs.

Contact us about the application procedure: mobility@taltech.ee

The higher education institution and National Agency will assess your application and will decide on the additional amount you may receive.

As a new possibility within the Erasmus+ programme, students can also do a blended mobility (combining a virtual period with a physical short-term mobility). Additinoally, students can take part in the international dimension, which involves third countries that are not associated to the programme.

Additional funding opportunities

As a new possibility within the Erasmus+ programme, students can also do a blended short-term mobility, combining a virtual period with a physical short-term mobility:

  • Contains 5-30 days of physical presence abroad;
  • Contains a virtual period before or after the physical mobility;
  • Must receive at least 3 ECTS.

As part of short-term mobility, you can participate in Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) organized by one of the partner universities of TalTech.

For PhD students, besides the blended mobility, students can carry out a short-term doctoral mobility (5-30 days) without the virtual period. In this case, the 3 ECTS requirement is not applicable.

Read more about the short-term/blended mobility here.

Scholarship:

  • Up to the 14th day of activity — 70 EUR per day
  • 15th to the 30th day of activity — 50 EUR per day

2 travel days (1+1) may be also be covered by individual support

Top-up for students with fewer opportunities:

  • 100 EUR for a physical mobility activity period of 5-14 days
  • 150 EUR for the one of 15-30 days

As a new possibility within the Erasmus+ programme, students can take part in the international dimension, which involves third countries that are not associated to the programme.

Students must find a host university that is willing to host them and receive a Letter of Confirmation. Based on the Letter of Confirmation, TalTech has the opportunity to sign a one-time cooperation agreement with them, which grants the student a scholarship for the student mobility.
